Behind the Closed Doors

Wednesday 9 September

5.30pm

Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū

Get a sneak peek behind the closed doors of an exhibition changeover and hear how a show comes to life from start to finish.

The Gallery's curators research and select the works, checking provenance and deciding when they enter the narrative and exactly where each piece will sit in the gallery to shape meaning and flow.

The exhibitions team plan the install down to the last detail: from condition reports, custom mounts and plinths, to lighting schemes, rigging plans and the choreography of the team that brings the layout from paper to space.

The visitor experience team layer interpretation, signage, accessibility measures and staff briefings so every guest who steps into the exhibition has a considered, memorable encounter.

Join Ken Hall, Peter Vangioni, Chris Pole, and Amy Harrington for an exclusive behind-the-scenes session that reveals the craft, coordination and care behind every exhibition.

Free for TOGETHER members, $25 for Friends members
